History

The organ was installed in the Church in 1926, replacing the one which had been in situe but destroyed in a devasting fire in November 1924 when the Church was burned to the ground with only a gable wall remaining.

The organ is a rare surviving example of a solid two manual and pedal organ built by the Belfast firm of Evans and Barr. For several years the organ was in poor condition but in Autum 2016 following a major fundraising project it was fully restored by the German Firm of Walcker.

This has breathed new life into the organ with recitals being much enjoyed by those attending. The most recent concert in June 2023 saw the Italian organist Giorgio Revelli at the console. A varied programme of music was much appreciated by the audience.

We are so fortunate to have our own organist and choir director Mr John Crombie leading the Church music, to the benefit of the congregation and visitors alike.

The organ now has its own Facebook page, with recordings of a wide selection of music. The tunes are played by John Crombie with sympathetic photographs added. There is something to suit all tastes. The pieces of recorded music are now going to be added to the Web page on a regular basis. We realise not everyone is a Facebook follower, however we would like to share with you the wonderful sounds and music from the Kingussie organ and our Organist John Crombie.

We hope you enjoy.
